05.06.10 Today is Boring - 'Episode 5'

With Guests Julie Dunne, Steve Daly and Hamish McAlpine.

This episode we are joined by Julie Dunne and Steve Daly to talk about their unique work as UK Casting Directors on special film projects such as NINE SONGS. Fresh back from Cannes with a list of films to reflect on, Hamish McAlpine will be giving his insights on what sparkled this year, and what went thud.

Today is Boring

In November 2008, TODAY IS BORING moved from Shoreditch up the road to Dalston. Since then, we have taken on a new direction, leaving behind all the pretenses of a high street video shop. Our involvement in various aspects of the film industry and various creative communities revolving around the use of the moving image, has naturally pushed us in other directions. Now, TODAY IS BORING finds us involved in film consultancy, film events promotion, film production, and of course the continuing development of our film archive. The curation of this archive now centres around research and reference for organisations and individuals, rather than the ad campaign-driven mass entertainment of the day.
Some of the people and organisations we have worked with through film screenings, productions and collaborations include:
BFI (British Film Institute), Burke Roberts (LA based Director and creator of the Bizzurke Army film collective), Castle Pink Frankenstein (Paris based underground film distributor), Charles of London (Fashion Designer), Christian Marclay (American visual artist and composer), Daniel Gordon (Very Much So Productions, film Director), Disasters Emergency Committee (2004 Tsunami Fundraiser), Douglas Hart (HSI London, Director), The Fabulous Penetrators (London based band), Hackney Spice Festival, ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts), Jimmy Henderson (London based Director), M+R Place to Fill Gallery (Shoreditch, London), Pam Hogg (Fashion Designer, Musician), Peter Stuart (LA based Director, of 'Another State of Mind' 1982 US punk documentary), Pix Magazine, Plexifilm (International DVD Label), Rio Cinema (Dalston, London), Shooting People (.org), Sibling Rivalry Productions (London based filmmakers), Tartan Video and Tartan Cinema, Third Window Films (London based DVD label), Tim Noble and Sue Webster (London based artists), White Cube (Shoreditch, London).
